About BOTOX® Cosmetic & Injectable Gel Fillers for Wrinkles

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® & Dysport® Injections
There are a number of non surgical treatments that use different types of injections that we can use to help smooth facial fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® & Dysport® Injections can dramatically improve your facial wrinkles. These non surgical treatments actually all use a purified protein derived from Botulinum Toxin Type A. During the injection procedure, a small amount of the medication is injected directly into the individual facial muscles that are responsible for creating wrinkles in the overlying skin. By weakening those muscles and preventing the pulling on the skin we can help to minimize and diminish the wrinkles. The actual injections take only minutes to administer, and noticeable results can usually be seen within two to eight days. Our patients are able to return to work and wear makeup immediately after treatment. At your consultation you will be asked to share the areas of concern you wish to address and we will make recommendation as to which injection type BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® or Dysport® Injection will be best to help you achieve your goals.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® and Dysport® Injections have the most dramatic effect on "expression wrinkles." These are the frown lines or furrows found between the eyebrows, the horizontal forehead lines or furrows, and the crows feet around the eyes. Patients who notice these types of wrinkles will usually see remarkable and rapid improvement after treatment with these injections. You will notice that the lines will be softened, but may not completely disappear. With regular treatments, the appearance of these lines will be greatly reduced. The effects of a single treatment will usually last three to four months, at which time another treatment may be required to continue seeing desirable results. The best way to find out if you are a good candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® or Dysport® Injection is to schedule a thorough evaluation and discussion so that we can determine if these injections will produce the effects and results you desire.

About Dermal or Gel Fillers
Depending on the type of facial wrinkles that you wish to smooth, other types of non surgical injections may be used either alone or in conjunction with BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® or Dysport® Injection. Wrinkles may be grouped into two types: Dynamic wrinkles, which are formed when muscles contract, or Static wrinkles, which are lines or depressions that exist even when there is no muscle action or pull on the skin. Dynamic wrinkles are best treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic, whereas static wrinkles are best treated with substances that subtly restore lost volume, plump up and fill out the problem lines. These substances are known medically as "dermal fillers" or “gel fillers.”

Dermal fillers are easy to inject and are biodegradable and thus not permanent. There are many popular types of dermal filler we use to increase volume and fill areas of concern. These include Radiesse®, Restylane® and Juvéderm™. Depending on your areas of concern and the type of wrinkle, we may suggest just using BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin® or Dysport® injections alone, or in combination with Radiesse®, Restylane® or Juvéderm™ in order to achieve the best possible results.
